| Aim & Objectives |
Research Gap |
The Impact of Social Media Influencer Marketing on Generation Z Consumers' Purchase Intention in the UK Fashion Industry
Social media has become an important communication channel between fashion brands and younger consumers. In particular, influencer marketing allows brands to communicate commercial messages through individuals who have established audiences on social media platforms.
Generation Z represents an important consumer segment for fashion retailers because of its extensive engagement with digital and social media. However, exposure to influencer-generated content does not necessarily lead directly to purchase intention. Factors such as perceived credibility, authenticity and consumer engagement may influence how audiences respond to such marketing activities.
This research therefore proposes to examine the relationship between social media influencer marketing and the purchase intention of Generation Z consumers within the UK fashion industry.
Social Media → Influencer Marketing → Generation Z → Purchase Intention → UK Fashion Industry
The aim of this study is to investigate how social media influencer marketing affects the purchase intention of Generation Z consumers in the UK fashion industry.
Aim
1. To examine Generation Z consumers' perceptions of social media influencer marketing.
2. To investigate the relationship between perceived influencer credibility and purchase intention.
3. To explore whether perceived authenticity influences Generation Z consumers' responses to fashion-related influencer content.
4. To identify implications for fashion brands using influencer marketing to communicate with Generation Z consumers.
RQ1: How do Generation Z consumers perceive influencer marketing in the UK fashion industry?
RQ2: What relationship exists between perceived influencer credibility and consumers' purchase intention?
RQ3: How does perceived authenticity influence Generation Z consumers' responses to fashion influencer content?
Existing studies suggest that influencer credibility can affect consumers' attitudes toward branded content. Credibility is commonly discussed in relation to characteristics such as expertise, trustworthiness and perceived authenticity.
However, consumer responses may vary according to demographic characteristics, product categories and social media contexts. Generation Z consumers are particularly relevant because of their high level of social media engagement, yet their familiarity with sponsored content may also make them more sensitive to perceived commercialisation.
These findings suggest a need to examine not simply whether influencer marketing affects consumers, but how credibility and authenticity may shape purchase intention within a specific consumer and industry context.
This study proposes a quantitative research approach in order to examine relationships between selected influencer-related factors and Generation Z consumers' purchase intention.
A cross-sectional survey design will be used. Data will be collected through an online questionnaire distributed to eligible participants.
The target population will consist of Generation Z consumers who currently live or study in the United Kingdom and who use social media platforms where fashion influencer content is commonly encountered.
The questionnaire will include demographic questions and items designed to measure participants' perceptions of influencer credibility, authenticity and purchase intention. Where appropriate, measurement items will be informed by relevant existing literature.
Collected data will be analysed using appropriate descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. Descriptive statistics will first be used to summarise participant characteristics and response patterns, followed by appropriate analysis of relationships between the key study variables.
Participation will be voluntary. Participants will receive information about the purpose of the study before providing informed consent. Personal identifying information will not be unnecessarily collected, and research data will be handled in accordance with the relevant university's ethical and data-management requirements.
|---|---|
| Week 1–2 | 完善Literature Review与Research Questions |
| Week 3 | 完成Research Design与Questionnaire |
| Week 4 | Ethics
| Week 5–6 | Data Collection |
| Week 7–8 | Data Analysis |
| Week 9–10 | Findings与Discussion |
| Week 11–12 | Conclusion、Proofreading与Final Revision |
Topic → Background → Research Gap → Aim → Objectives → Research Questions → Literature → Methodology → Data → Analysis
Assessment Brief、Module Handbook
Research Gap
Methodology
